Edna’s Obituary Our beloved Edna Virginia Grant transitioned peacefully from this earthly life on the morning of February 20th after a gradual decline in health. She was surrounded and supported by her loving daughter, devoted son-in-law, and compassionate caregivers during her last days. Ms. Edna was born in Philadelphia, PA.

She worked tirelessly at Planters Peanut Company and Hillcrest/Nansemond Pointe Convalescent Center, retiring after 65 years of dedicated service. Ms. Edna was a former member of Piney Grove Baptist Church in her early years, and when she wasn’t working, she would visit Lakeview Baptist Church, located in her neighborhood. Her favorite colors were navy blue and white, which she frequently adorned her wardrobe.

She would purchase matching hats, but seldom wore them. Ms. Edna leaves to cherish her memories, daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Larry Jordan; son, Charlie Grant, III; six grandchildren; Antwan Jordan, Julia Kay Copeland (Marvin), Flamica Tucker (Jason), Pierre Jordan, Patrick Jordan, and Larry Jordan, Jr; thirteen great-grandchildren, and two great great-grandchildren. She is survived by one brother, Raleigh Richardson, “special son,” Alvin Grant, three sisters-in-law; Carrie Weaver, Lucille Grant, and Rosa Figgs, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Evelyn; father, Frank; infant daughter Cynthia; three siblings; Mary, Beatrice, and John.
