Edward “Ed” Linley Morrison, 88, of Midland, NC passed away Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at home surrounded by family and friends. Ed was born November 14, 1929 in Concord, NC to the late Joe Alfred Morrison and the late Pearl Bost Morrison. He was also preceded in death by his brothers Leith “Son” Morrison and Mack Morrison; sisters Elizabeth “Bud” Hough and Joyce Krimminger.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Christine Dulin Morrison; daughters, Wanda Hill and husband David; Shannon Bell and husband Steve; Denise Beachum and husband Terry; Lorra Mauldin and Mike Morgan; Kristi Eudy and Matt Gimber; nine grandchildren, six great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren; brother Sam Morrison and wife Linda; sister in law Bernice Morrison; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Carol Haigler, “the sixth daughter”, for the loving care she has given to Ed and Christine. Ed proudly served in the United States Air Force.

He was a lifelong member of Bethel United Methodist Church where he served on various committees and sang in the choir. Ed also served the Midland community as a volunteer fireman and a Boy Scout leader. Ed and his wife Christine were charter members of the Carolina Jaybird Camping Club and enjoyed over 25 years of camping and fellowship with them.

He also enjoyed smoking BBQ for his friends and family every year on his birthday. He loved watching and feeding the birds, along with gardening, but most of all he loved spending time with his family “building memories and gaining experiences”. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm, Thursday, July 26, 2018 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Midland.

The funeral service will be on Friday at 11:00 am at Bethel United Methodist Church, 12700 Idlebrook Road in Midland, officiated by Rev. Mark Clontz. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28081, or Bethel United Methodist Church, 12700 Idlebrook Road, Midland, NC 28107.
