Evelyn Dorothy Wenz, 98, after a long full life Evelyn passed away on her birthday Saturday, July 21, 2018. Evelyn was born July 21, 1920 in Brooklyn, New York to the late Harry VanGordan and the late Julia VanGordan. She was also preceded in death by husband, Robert Albert Wenz; sister Mildred Nancee VanGordan; grand-daughter Lisa Harris Walters; as well as many aunts uncles and cousins.

Evelyn met Robert Wenz at a Country Club dance and married him in 1940. Her and Bob had two daughters Carolyn Julia Wenz Walters and Linda Wenz Mikesh. Evelyn was very artistic and talented She Graduated from Design school and worked with Fox Browney and Edith Head in New York.

Evelyn had a very eventful life and many careers. She was also sheriff in Dade County Fl. worked for the government at Dinner Key, was a Para-legal, and Director of personal with Blonder Tounge.

The Wenzs lived in New York, South Carolina, Florida, New Jersey, North Carolina, and Georgia. The family will receive friends from 9:00 am – 11:15 am, Saturday, July 28, 2018 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord. The funeral service will be on Saturday at 11:30 am at Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel in Concord officiated by Rev.

Edward Lenzer. Burial will follow at the St. James The Greater Catholic Church Cemetery at 2323 Gold Hill Rd. , Concord.

Family will be having lunch at the Bistro in Concord. Survivors include daughters Carolyn and Linda; Son-In-Laws Ronald and Thomas; 4 grand children and 5 great grandchildren; Along with a host of nieces and nephews that were the light of her life. Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord is serving the Wenz family.
