Shirley Claudette Starnes, 75, passed away Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at her home in Concord. Shirley was born November 26, 1942 in North Carolina to the late Marshall Edward Thompson and Helen Mae Cress. She was preceded in death by her husband, James “Don” Mcdonald Starnes and son, Jeffrey Lynn Starnes as well as her brother, Bobby Thompson.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm, Friday, July 13, 2018 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm in the chapel, officiated by Rev. Tom Gibbs.

Burial will follow the service at West Concord Cemetery on 331 Union Cemetery Rd SW, Concord, NC 28027. Survivors include son, Mark Anthony Starnes of Concord, NC, son, James “Donnie” McDonald Starnes, Jr. of Concord, NC, and daughter, Michaela Annette Murph of Concord, NC, granddaughters, Kayla Starnes, Kelly Martinez, Amanda Starnes, Kimberly Starnes, Jessica Melvin, Tandy Banda, Jennifer Hernandez, Rochelle Wagoner, Amber Murph and grandsons, Greg Starnes and Michael Murph. She is also survived by 25 great grandchildren and one great- great grandchild.

Shirley enjoyed her Saturday morning Troutman’s breakfasts, Friday night Blue Bay Fish dinners, Taking road trips with Sissy, roaming through flea markets, yard sales and just taking a ride in the car, but her favorite thing was her family gatherings where she was able to see all of her family!
