Betty Sue Hartsell, 90, of Locust, passed away Sunday, July 22, 2018 at Carolinas HealthCare System Stanly in Albemarle. Betty was born July 18, 1928 in Rowan County to the late Almer Alexander Smith and Effie Jane Hartsell Smith. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Joe Smith.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm – 2:45 pm, Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 pm in Hartsell Funeral Home’s Lefler Memorial Chapel officiated by Rev. Gene Hopkins.

Burial will follow at the West Stanly Baptist Church Cemetery. Survivors include: two sons, Jimmie (Belinda) Hartsell of Locust, and Roger (Mable) Hartsell of Oakboro; two daughters, Kathy Hartsell Barbee of Locust, and Cindy (Douglas) McDougal of Lancaster, SC; sister, Helen Lambert of Locust; brother, Leroy Smith of Stanfield; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle is serving the Hartsell family.
