Edward Howard was born June 13, 1957 to Bobbie (Howard) DeBruce and David Earl in East St. Louis, Illinois. He departed this life on Sunday, December 9, 2018. He attended Fort Wayne Community Schools and graduated from Elmhurst High School in 1975.

He was employed by SuperValu and retired in 2006 after 30 years of dedicated service. He also worked part-time for Light & Breuning Inc. Edward was an active member of Greater Christ Temple, under the leadership of Apostle Mark A. Haywood. He served on the Usher Board and Men of Purpose Chorus.

Edward united in holy matrimony to JoAnn Winchester on December 27, 2005. He was full of life and loved to laugh. He was one of the coolest laid back people you ever came across; until he was excited or angry.

He will be greatly missed, especially his smile. Anyone who knew Edward knew that his grandchildren ruled his world. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, JoAnn Howard; mother, Bobbie DeBruce; one son, Edward (Melissa) Green; four daughters, Shona (Cory) Kirkpatrick, NiKeya Gilbert, Edquina Bray-Howard and Dominique Howard; four bonus children, Sherita Shurelds, Whitney Shurelds, Devonte Sanders and Denzel Sanders; three brothers, Gary (Gilda) Howard, Derrick (Carmen) DeBruce and Fredrick (Geraldine) DeBruce; one sister, Jane Thomas-Carothers; two uncles, Ronald Johnson and Sherman Hamilton; seven granddaughters, Paietyn Gilbert, Miracle Shurelds, Nevaeh Howard, Maleiya McGraw, Khalia Sanders and Ry’Leigh Sanders; five grandsons, Andraias Curry, Leroy Wilson, Jerris Anderson, Edward Green III and Vernard Hunter; grand-dog, Webbie; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
