Ed, a long time resident of Croydon and Newport, died peacefully at the VA in White River Junction. Ed graduated from Wayne High School in 1962. From there he joined the Navy Reserves and worked at National Cash Register.

He served three years as a corpsman in the Navy, where he did two Mediterranean tours on the USS Forrestal. After the Navy, he went to Emory University and graduated as a PA. He then moved to NH to raise his family and practice medicine.

He worked at Newport Hospital until it closed. He also worked at Mary Hitchcock in Hanover, Dicks House at Dartmouth College, NH State Prison, Lahey Clinic, and Cheshire Medical Center. His compassion and healing hands touched the lives of countless patients.

He was also a member of the Board of Trustees at Campy Coniston, where he volunteered and built a number of the overnight sights. He also had a passion for acting at the Newport Opera House. In 2000, he retired as a PA and moved to Haiti, where he ran his own clinic, caring for the health needs of thousands of patients.

He also helped organize teams to go down and help the people of Haiti. In 2014, he returned home to Newport to retire and spend time with his family. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, kayaking, and target shooting and reloading.

He also spent countless hours cruising the countryside on his famous red Goldwing with his giant monkey Elmo on the back. Ed is predeceased by his parents, Edward and Anna Amos of Wayne, NJ, his wife, Kathy Moynihan of Pittsfield, MA, and by numerous fur babies. He is survived by his brother, Larry Amos and his family in Webster, NH, his sister, Sharon Cona and her family in Wayne, NJ, his children, Christopher Amos of Charlestown, NH, Tamara Amos of Newport, NH, and Kim Childs and her family of Newport, NH, five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

The family has decided not to do a viewing. There will be a Celebration of Life at the Our Savior Lutheran Church, 5 Summer St., Hanover, NH on April 13, 2019 at 1 PM. There will be a service with a reception to follow.

Adult beverages and your favorite dish are welcome. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make donations in Ed’s name to the Upper Valley Humane Society, 300 Old Route 10, Enfield, NH 03748.
