Obituary for Edward Joseph Schneider Edward Joseph Schneider, 91, of Beloit, WI, passed away on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at Agrace Hospice & Palliative Care, Janesville, WI. He was born on September 21, 1927 in Edgerton, WI, to Joseph and Edna (Riordan) Schneider. Ed was a 1945 graduate of Edgerton High School and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a Radar Technician.
He was united in marriage on July 16, 1949 to Joyce Lamb in St. Peter Catholic Church, south Beloit, IL. She predeceased him on October 25, 1997. Ed served a four-year machinist apprenticeship with Fairbanks Morse in the late 1940’s, playing on the company’s fast pitch softball team, the Beloit Fairies.
He was a golfing member of Morse Hills Country Club and was very proud of his hole-in-one. Ed was the Beloit Bowling Association doubles champ in 1985 and was an active officer of the Jaycees in the 1950’s, helping build the pavilion in Riverside Park. He was an assistant commander of the Beloit Police Reserves, an active member in the Beloit Ambassadors receiving the Ambassador of the Year award in 1993.
Ed was a member and former Exalted Ruler of the Beloit Elks Lodge #864, was named Elk of the Year in 2003. He served as the Adjutant of the South Beloit American Legion for 19 years. As a member and former two-year President of the South Beloit Lions Club, he received the Melvin Jones Fellowship in December 1998.
Ed liked to bowl, golf, dance and square dance. He retired March 31, 1990 after 32 years as a State Farm Insurance Agent. Survivors include his children, Randall Schneider of Hamburg, NJ, Cinda (Richard) Schwedrsky of McFarland, WI, and David (Diana) Schneider of Beloit, WI; grandchildren, Danielle Schneider of Mahwah, NJ, Dennis (Karen) Schwedrsky, Rebecca (John) Gray, and Jessica Schwedrsky all of McFarland, WI; great grandchildren, Rylee Schwedrsky, Kynaeda and Greysyn Gray, Emma and Nadia Schwedrsky; sisters-in-law, Doloris Harris and Pat (Ron) Guaginte both of Beloit, WI; several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents; daughter-in-law, Patricia Schneider; and sister, Alice Rasmussen. The family would like to thank Dr. Gold, the staff of Willowick Assisted Living, and Agrace Hospice Care – Janesville, for their wonderful care provided to Edward. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial for Ed will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 13, 2018 in Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church, 2222 Shopiere Road, Beloit, WI, with Fr.
Michael Resop officiating. Burial will be in Floral Lawn Cemetery, South Beloit, IL with Military Honors accorded by South Beloit American Legion Post #288. Visitation of Remembrance will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium, 2355 Cranston Rd.
