Obituary for Edward J. Suroviec Edward J. Suroviec, 97, of Waterford, passed away peacefully at his residence on Thursday September 6, 2018. He was born in Fiddler’s Green, PA on September 24, 1920 a son of the late Frank and Kathryn Jarosz Suroviec. Edward was a 1939 graduate of Tech Memorial and went on to serve in the United States Army during World War II.

He worked at GE as a machine operator for 30 years and most recently worked at PennDOT for 11 years before retiring in 1981. He was a member of All Saints Catholic Church and was an avid hunter, fisherman, and gardener. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Wilda A. Howard Suroviec; six brothers, Rudolph, John, Peter, Ferdinand, Alexander, and Henry Suroviec; and two sisters, Annie Forish and Frances Suroviec.

Survivors include his six children, Kathryn Orski and her husband, Gary, of Centerville, VA, Joseph Suroviec of Palm City, FL, Patricia Wieczorek and her husband, David, of Erie, Susan George and her husband, John, of Kingsville, OH, Sandra Turi and her husband, Bryon, of Butler, PA, and Marjorie Bruce and her husband, David, of Erie; 11 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Rd. , on Thursday, September 13, 2018 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. and are invited to a prayer service there on Friday morning, September 14, 2018 at 9:15 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at All Saints Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m..

Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to All Saints Catholic Church, 11264 Route 97 N, Waterford, PA, 16441 or the Visiting Nurses Association of Erie County, 2253 W. Grandview Blvd. , Erie, 16506.
