Lexington, KY-Edward Paul Steinke, Sr., 86, formerly of Boardman, passed away October 17, 2018 at his home in Lexington, Kentucky from kidney disease. Ed was born in Youngstown to Gustav and Gizella Steinke on June 9, 1932. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gustav and Gizella, and his brother, Gus Steinke. Mourning his passing, Ed leaves his wife, Toni (Antoinette) of 62 years, as well as 3 children, Edward Steinke Jr. (Gail), Barbara Oakley (Bob) and Carol Walker (Bill), 6 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He also leaves a sister, Edna Slanco (Ray), a sister-in-law, Mary Lee Steinke, a brother-in-law, Anthony Fabian (Ilene), as well as several nieces & nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was a 1951 graduate of Wilson High School. Ed served in the United States Army for 8 years; 2 years active duty and 6 years in the Army Reserves. He was honorably discharged in March of 1960 as Corporal USAR receiving the Parachute Badge, National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.

Ed also worked 30 years for Ohio Bell/AT&T/ Lucent as a service management representative. He was a life-long member of the Pioneers of America, sang in 4 choirs, which included the United States Army Choir, Ohio Bell Choir, Martin Luther Church Choir and the Prince of Peace Church Choir. Ed was also a member of the Croatian Home and The SNPJ Lodge 153.

Ed and his wife, Toni would dance their Sundays away at the SNPJ Recreation Center in Enon Valley, PA as they both loved to dance to the music of the polkas and waltzes. He received the Pro De E Patro Award for the faithful service as a Boy Scout leader at Martin Luther Church. After moving to Kentucky, two of the events Ed missed the most were the monthly breakfast meetings of the Wilsonites and the Pioneers.

Calling hours will be held on Monday from 10 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at the Davis-Becker Funeral Home, 8536 Market St., Boardman, where a funeral service will follow at 11a.m. Interment will follow at Lake Park Cemetery.
