Anthony Vincent Fimognari, 20, of Lowellville, Ohio, passed away September 29, 2018 at his home. He was born July 1, 1998 in Youngstown, Ohio, son of Vincent and Kathleen (Griffith) Fimognari and had been a lifelong area resident. Anthony was a 2016 graduate of Lowellville High School and was currently in his Junior year at the University of Akron.

While in high school, he was a member of the National Honor Society, and had also assumed many leadership roles. He was the Senior Band President of the Lowellville High School Band under Mr. Bob Antonucci. He was also the recipient of the John Philips Sousa Award.

He continued to perform in the Mount Carmel Society Band after he graduated from high school. He was the principal saxophonist in the Akron Honors Band and assistant principal clarinetist in the District V Honors Band. He was the student council secretary.

Anthony was also very involved in the Lowellville Drama Club under Jenna Cintavey and Mia DiRenzo landing leading roles in every production since his Freshman year. He also participated in several community theatre performances. Anthony was a member of the Youngstown Youth Symphony Orchestra playing the clarinet, and through audition, received the prestigious honor of the Senior Solo Concerto Winner under the direction of Dr. Stephen Gage.

He also performed in the Youngstown Youth Concert Band and through audition was awarded the Senior Solo Concerto Winner-Alto Saxophone under the direction of Dr. Brandt Payne. Anthony was a proud member of the Italian Club and a member of the Future Teacher’s of America. He was involved in many services activities.

Relay for Life – where he served as the head of the writing committee. He volunteered in the yearly blood drive and was himself an active donor. He volunteered his service by wrapping and delivering Christmas presents to needy families, and he volunteered his musical talent each Christmas by providing live entertainment to the Lowellville community playing Christmas songs.

Anthony was in his Junior year at the University of Akron and was on the Dean’s List each semester. His major was Music Performance Saxophone and Clarinet. He was studying under Dr. Todd Gafke who is the Professor of Saxophone.

He also studied under Dr. Kristina Jones who is the Professor of Clarinet. By audition he was selected by Akron’s most prestigious music ensemble – the University of Akron’s Symphonic Orchestra. Also by audition he was also a member of the University of Akron’s Symphonic Band, it’s Concert Band and the Marching Band under the direction of Dr. Galen Karriker who is the Director of Bands.

He leaves his father Vince Fimognari of Boardman; his mother, Kathy (Rene) Hidalgo of Corpus Christi, Texas; his sister, Gina Fimognari of Chicago, Illinois; his grandmother, Carol Griffith of Lowellville, as well as several aunts, uncles, and cousins. A memorial service will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday October 4, 2018 at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home in Lowellville. Friends may call from 11-12:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
