He was born on May 19, 1939 in Youngstown, the son of the late Myron and Miriam (Scheetz) Wardle. During his youth, he worked at the family gas station, Wardle Gulf with his brothers, and was a frequent patron of the Boulevard Tavern, where he had many fond memories.

After graduating from Ursuline High School in 1958, he began working as an accountant at McKay Machine Co. (later Wean United and Danieli Wean), where he enjoyed a 40+ year career. During this period, he earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting from Youngstown State University in 1967, was a member of the Youngstown Jaycees, stayed active through the Wean bowling league and on the golf course, and liked playing cards, chess and doing cross sums. Most summers, he spent time with his family at Geneva on the Lake, which was one of his favorite places to visit.

He was also a big fan of the Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Indians, and Ohio State Buckeyes. He loved watching his granddaughters dance recitals and school plays. Ted was admired for his quick wit, sharp intelligence, and solid financial knowledge.

Later in life, he worked as an accountant at VEC Technology and retired in the mid-2000’s. Ted is survived by his wife of 54 years, the former Barbara Constance, whom he married on May 30, 1964; daughters, Nancy Wardle of Columbus, Susan Wardle-Burke and Jennifer Wardle, both of Youngstown; two granddaughters, Riley and Molly Burke; two sisters, Barbara Reardon and Judith “Judy” Liggett, both of Youngstown; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard “Dick” and Kenneth “Kenny” Wardle.
