Edward’s Obituary Mr. Edward R. Sharp, 87, of Troy, MO, passed away on Monday, March 18, 2019 at Troy Manor. He was born on June 18, 1931 in Rolla to George and Viola Mae (Price) Sharp. Edward was blessed to grow up with 12 siblings and learned what sharing and thinking of others’ meant.

He met his soulmate, Mary Wilson, on a group date as a young man. About a year later, Ed enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1951 and served until 1954. The couple was married on Nov.

1951 in St. Louis. After Ed’s honorable discharge, they moved to Decatur, IL and he attended Headley Tech School to become an electrician. After his schooling, he began working at American Arms, building bombs for the Korean War.

He joined the Army National Guard, always willing to serve his country. The couple was blessed with two children: James and Mary Jo. Edward was such a hard worker, many times working two jobs at the same time.

He was always concerned about taking good care of his family and being a good provider. The family moved to Cuba, back to Illinois, then to Steeleville and St. Louis before moving to Lincoln County. He and his wife, Mary, tackled so many major projects, too numerous to mention.

They were quite a team and accomplished so much during Ed’s lifetime. He also enjoyed making beer, fishing, boating, hunting and even building his own home, with his wife’s help. Throughout the many years of their marriage, Ed was constantly going to school and learning many trades, including bricklaying.

He was a special man who lived a very full life and will be greatly missed by his loving family. Surviving are his devoted wife, Mary Sharp of over 67 years of marriage; his son, James and wife Donna Sharp of Ballwin and his daughter, Mary Jo and husband Joseph Owens; his loving granddaughter, Kathryn and his three sisters: Virginia Maxwell, Viola Mae Sharp, Bonnie Brownsberger and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his nine siblings.

Private services will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to donor’s choice, c/o McCoy-Blossom Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1304 Boone St., Troy, MO 63379 (636) 528-8244.
