Obituary of Edward De Meo Jr. Edward J DeMeo, Jr., 71, of Masonville passed away Monday evening, December 31, 2018 at Albany Medical Center, Albany, following a short illness. Ed was born on October 25, 1947 in Roslyn Park, NY, the son of the late Edward J. and Edna (Stancavage) DeMeo Sr He was a graduate of Port Washington High School, class of 1965.

He married the former Kathleen Potter on March 23, 1976 in Yorktown Heights. He was employed for many years as a printer with Monette Printing, Holbrook, NY. Ed was a member of the Ridge Fire Department for 11 years and served many of those years as the chief of the Fire Department.

After moving to Masonville Ed decided to become involved with the Masonville Fire Department and served a term as fire commissioner in Masonville. Ed loved the country life and all it had to offer. He loved hunting, boating, and raising his cows on his land.

Ed is survived by his loving family, his wife Kathy, his sons, James and Maureen DeMeo, Middle Island; John and Jolie DeMeo, Walton; and Dan and Michelle DeMeo, Ridge; grandchildren, Christopher, Joseph, Nicholas, Brennan, Julia, Abigail, Alexis, Conner, and Crystal; brother, Richard and Joan DeMeo, Port Washington and a sister, Mary Lou Whitmore, New Jersey, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a sister, Sylvia Weinstock. Friends and relatives are invited to call on Thursday January 3, 2019 from 6 to 8 PM at the Courtney Funeral Home, Walton.

Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. A prayer service will be held at the conclusion of the calling hours Thursday evening with Pastor Larry Light, officiating. Memorial contributions in Ed’s memory may be made to Kids and Kritters 4-H club in Masonville NY, c/o Cornell Cooperative Extension of Delaware County.
