Edwin Dudley Corning Jr. Edwin Dudley Corning, Jr., 76, husband of Gail Kemmerlin Corning, died Thursday, April 26, 2018 at Palmetto Health Tuomey. Born February 5, 1942, in Sumter, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Frank A. McLeod, Jr. and the late Edwin D. Corning, Sr Mr. Corning was a member of Church of the Holy Comforter.

He retired as a Claims Representative with State Farm Insurance Company. Survivors include his wife of 45 years; two sons, Edwin D. Corning, III (Emily) of Mt. Pleasant, and Shelton Corning of Sumter; three grandchildren, Layla Grace, Josie Mae, and Abigail McKenzie; three brothers, Roland S. Corning and Frank A. McLeod, III (Marguerite) both of Columbia, and John M. G. McLeod (Beth) of Brevard, NC; one sister, Elizabeth M. Britton of Sumter; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Monday at Church of the Holy Comforter with The Rev. Marcus A. Kaiser, Sr. and The Very Rev. Charles F. Walton, Jr. officiating.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the home of his sister, Elizabeth M. Britton, 730 Creekside Drive. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 190 Knox Abbott Dr. # 301, Cayce, SC 29033 or the National Stroke Association, 9707 E Easter Lane Suite B, Centennial, CO 80112. Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter is in charge of the arrangements.
