Obituary for Lou Ella Ethridge (Barfield) Lou Ella Ethridge, 69, died Wednesday, April 18, 2018, at her home. Born October 27, 1948, in Sumter, she was a daughter of the late Arthur B. Barfield and the late Minnie Margie Barfield. She was a member of Lakewood Baptist Church where she was one of the founders of the Lakewood Baptist Care Group.

She was employed as a private caregiver for many years. Survivors include two children, Vicky Ethridge (Debra Lewis) and Tracy Ethridge (Patricia) all of Greenville; four grandchildren, Michael Charles “Chad” Avin, Jr. (Amber Titus), Grant Austin Ethridge, Samuel Tracy Ethridge, Benjamin Patrick Ethridge, and Rebecca Rose Ethridge; a great-granddaughter, Norah Dreamy Avin; and two sisters, Florie Bradshaw (Dale) and Dorothy Barkley all of Sumter. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 A.M. Friday at Lakewood Baptist Church with the Rev.

Tim Hinson officiating. Burial will be in the Greeleyville Freewill Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:30 to 11:30 A.M. Friday at Lakewood Baptist Church.

Memorials may be made to Lakewood Baptist Church, 3140 Nazarene Church Rd. , Sumter, SC 29154. Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter is in charge of the arrangements.
