Obituary for Edwin Gary “Smitty” Smith Print Edwin Gary “Smitty” Smith, 72, of Shippensburg, passed away Wednesday, February 6, 2019 in the Carlisle Regional Medical Center. He was born April 14, 1946 in Altoona, PA. Smitty was a son of the late William and Laura M. Smith Clark.

He retired from the Pennsylvania State Police where he obtained the rank of Lieutenant. Smitty served at various barracks including; the Pennsylvania Turnpike, McConnellsburg, Poconos and Montoursville. He was a member of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, Shippensburg.

Smitty was a United States Air Force Veteran during the Vietnam War. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Kathy A. Patrick Smith and numerous cousins. At the convenience of the family memorial services will be held at a later date.
