OBITUARY Edwin Henry DANENHAUER Jr. June 7, 1943 – November 5, 2018 Ed Danenhauer passed away on November 5, 2018 in Highlands Ranch, Colorado. Ed was raised in Clifton, Arizona. He proudly attended the University of Arizona, and then earned a law degree from Hastings College of Law.
Ed was then commissioned as a JAG Officer in the United States Navy. After separating from the Navy, Ed spent his career working as a certified public accountant. He spent the majority of his adult life in San Diego.
Ed had a huge heart and had a passion for giving. He loved San Diego and it was important to him to give back to the community he loved so much. He served on numerous boards for a variety of organizations including the La Jolla Rotary, YMCA of San Diego, Parkinson’s Association of San Diego, San Diego Hospice and Palliative Care, and ScrippsHealth.
In addition to giving, Ed had a few other loves we want to share. Ed loved the San Diego Padres. As a long-time season ticket holder he often would take his kids to games at Jack Murphy and later Petco Park.
Ed also loved dogs, especially Corgis. He had three Corgi’s over the span of many years in San Diego. And we can’t forget the flip flops.
He could be found working in shorts and flip flops most days of the week. Ed had a wonderful sense of humor, but took joys in the simple things. He didn’t need to be the center of attention.
His greatest joy was his kids and grandkids. He loved visiting his kids while they were in college, and as they grew, he cherished the time together where he could just sit and watch his kids and grandkids interact and have fun with each other, often during trips to his time share in Palm Desert. He had an inquisitive nature and an open mind to trying new things.
Such as hiking, learning about nature, conservation, and the ecosystems where his family lived. He took to heart the issues facing each of his loved ones in their perspective towns. He was well liked by most who knew him because of his inherent interest in them which penetrated beyond superficial boundaries.
Ed is survived by his three children, Craig Danenhauer and his wife Nicole and children, Leif, Annika and Xander; Kari Larese and husband Stefan and their two children Ryan and Jordan; and Mark Danenhauer and wife Karen and their two children Aster and Bodhi. When you remember Ed, we hope you remember his smile and that twinkle in his eye. It’s how we knew how proud he was of his family.

And as his grandkids want to add, Grandpa was a GOAT (Greatest of all Time).
