Eileen B. Carson, age 94, of Marion, passed away Sunday, March 3, 2019 at Rose Hill Retirement Center. A daughter of the late Buddy and Willie Mae Barron, she was born on April 12, 1924. Eileen was a homemaker and was a longtime member of West Marion United Methodist Church.

She loved the simple things of life, tending her flower and veggie gardens, animals, especially dogs, and marveling at the beauty of birds. She also liked to travel and was fortunate to have been able to travel to the Holy Land. Her family learned much from the wisdom she possessed and appreciated her delicious cooking.

She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her husband, James Rhodes Carson, preceded her in death in 1980. She leaves behind a daughter, Cecelia Ann Carson Sparks of Marion; a sister, Ann McKay of Montreat; two grandsons, Charlie Smith and wife Annette and David Carson Smith and wife Greta, all of Marion; two great-granddaughters, Jessica Annette Smith and Mary Grace Smith; and a special great-niece, Nancy Laughridge of Marion.

A funeral service will take place on Thursday, March 7, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Westmoreland Funeral Home in Marion with Rev. Billy Styles officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Following the service, Eileen will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband in Oak Grove Cemetery. The family wishes to express their special thanks to Gayle Styles, Tonia Keasler and Peggy Good for the loving care they provided to Eileen for so many years.
