Eileen Henry Burr, 96, of Champaign, died on the evening of Thursday, Sept. 27, 2018 at OSF Heart of Mary Medical Center, Urbana. Owens Funeral Home will conduct a visitation at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 403 W. Clark, on Tuesday, Oct.

2, from 12-1 pm. The funeral Mass will begin at 1:00 pm in the church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Pesotum.

Eileen was born on May 9, 1922 in Pesotum, the daughter of Frank and Margaret (Butler) Henry. She married Robert D. Burr in May 1942 and he preceded her in death in August 1990. Others that preceded her in death include her parents, a sister, a grandson and an infant brother.

Survivors include 2 daughters, Jan (Larry) Spicer of Champaign and Diana (Bob) Schwanke of Fisher; a son, Robert ‘Bob’ (Pam) Burr, II of Lafayette, IN; 3 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren; a sister, Frances Wood of Pesotum and many nieces and nephews. Eileen was a homemaker for most of her life but she also worked at Chanute Air Force Base as a stenographer for 11 years. She enjoyed volunteering at Catholic Worker House in Champaign, working jigsaw puzzles with friends and completing crossword puzzles.

Eileen was a gifted seamstress and knitter, she made her children’s clothes when they were young and later in life, she loved to make blankets for babies and for her family. Memorials may be made to Holy Cross Catholic Church (403 W. Clark, Champaign, IL 61820) or St. Jude Catholic Worker House (217 S. Randolph, Champaign, IL 61820).
