Eldi was born May 24, 1941 in Powers Lake, ND. He attended school and graduated from Powers Lake High School in 1959.
He attended NDSU in Fargo for a year and then enlisted in the Marine Corps, along with a childhood friend. After three years in the Marines, Eldi completed his degree at Minot State University. He spent many years working in education administration and enjoyed teaching and coaching football, a sport he played and enjoyed throughout his life.
He taught in Powers Lake, Stanley and Burke Central, where he enjoyed coaching alongside his cousin. Eldon was a business partner at Town and Country Motors, in Stanley. He made many friends through this business and his office was just a block away from his brothers Insurance Agency.
He and his brother spent more time at the local coffee shop than in their offices, but the work always got done. Eldi also worked for the Department of Homeland Security, including the Ports of Entry in Pembina and Portal, North Dakota and Raymond and Whitetail, Montana. He made many lifelong friends in his colleagues and retired in 2007.
Eldon was known for his sharp wit and tremendous sense of humor. He had the uncanny ability to make people feel at ease and he was well liked and respected by all who knew him. For many years, Eldon held court at the local restaurant every morning at the round table for coffee.
Politics was the usual topic of the day and Eldi certainly felt comfortable sharing his opinions. Eldon was meticulous about his lawn and took pride in volunteering to maintain the grounds at the Plentywood Lutheran Church and Town Square. He enjoyed riding motorcycle and he and Kathy did that together.
Eldi loved his family and friends. A highlight of he and Kathy’s life was when he retired and they bought a second home in Arizona. He was a devoted father to Julie, Jon and Jay and was a wonderful grandfather to his two grandchildren, Jordan and Jack.
He always encouraged his children to be responsible yet adventurous and was proud of each of them. Eldon is survived by his wife of 53 years, Kathy Olsen Albertson, daughter Julie Albertson (Virgil Balmer) and her son, Jack Ellis Parnell, Jon (Susana) Albertson and his daughter Jordan Kathleen Albertson, Jay Albertson (Carla Pease), his brothers Miles (Sharon) Albertson and John (Marilyn) Albertson, sister-in-law Connie (Boyd) Anderson.
