Malaguti 1921 – 2019 West Springfield – Eleanor F. (Cooley) O’Neill Malaguti, 97, of York Street died Saturday in a local nursing home. Eleanor was born in Springfield, was a graduate of Commerce High School and has lived in West Springfield since 1972. She worked at WICO Electric until her retirement in 1982 and also worked as a waitress at Valenti’s Restaurant in Agawam for many years and was a 50-year Avon Representative.
A communicant of the former Church of Good Shepherd in West Springfield She was a longtime member and past president of the Women’s Auxiliary at the Italian Sportsmen Club in Agawam. Her husband Roldo Malaguti died in 2000. She leaves a son John “Jack” O’Neill and his wife Betty; a daughter Patricia Martin; stepdaughter Virginia Harnois and her husband George; ten grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.
Her granddaughter Melissa O’Neil died in 2010. The family wishes to thank the staff of Hospice of Western & Central Massachusetts for their compassionate care given. The funeral will be held at the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home Friday at 9:00am followed by burial in the Massachusetts Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery.
