Eli’s Obituary Mr. Eli Martin, Jr., age 60, of Lumberton, NC, passed away Wednesday, May 22, 2019. He was born on October 1, 1958, in Clewiston, FL to the late Eli Martin, Sr. and the late Ordean Norman Martin. He served in the U.S. Army and retired as Fire Captain of Lumberton Fire Dept.

Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Malissa Smith. He is survived by his wife, Cynthia Smith-Martin of the home; his father-in-law, Milton Smith of Lumberton; one son, Eli Martin III of Sandy Springs, GA; three daughters: LaShawnda Powell of Concord, NC, LaCresa Powell Morgan and husband Derek of Charlotte, NC, and Shaketa Martin of West Palm Beach, FL; four grandchildren: Dorian Morgan, Jabari Scott, Tatyana Johnson, and Renada Bell; one great-grandchild, Jamari Scott; one brother, Alfred Martin of Indiantown, FL; six sisters: Evelyn Wallace, Gloria Harold, Jackie Harold, and Madeline Harold, all of Belle Glade, FL, Micky Norman of New Jersey, and Lorraine McDonald of West Palm Beach, FL; and two sisters-in-law, Cathy Carter and husband Hugo of Charlotte, NC and Delphine Withers and husband Darrell of Kannapolis, NC. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 28, 2019, from 6:00-8:00 PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc., 809 E. 5th Street in Lumberton, NC.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 29, 2019, at 11:00 AM at Cromartie Temple of Praise, 107 Lessane Street in Lumberton, NC, with Rev. Dennis Hempstead. Burial will follow at Floyd Memory Gardens, 3720 Old Whiteville Road in Lumberton, NC.
