Elizabeth “Betty Jean” Janak Pekar March 03, 1944 – February 04, 2019 Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| View Guest Book Entries| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Elizabeth “Betty Jean” Janak Pekar (Nana), 74, of Stafford, Texas, passed away peacefully on February 4, 2019. She was born on March 3, 1944 to Laddie & Josephine Kalmus Janak in Hallettsville. She married Marvin R. Pekar on June 6, 1965 at Saint Anne’s Catholic Church in Houston.

Nana’s greatest joys in life were the simple times spent with her 2 children and 5 grandchildren. Nana’s greatest gift to this world was being a great mother and grandmother, a great supporter, and one who loved her family unconditionally and always put her family first. The irreplaceable love and care Nana gave to her family, friends and strangers, will forever be cherished and carried in our hearts.

Betty lived a life of the Lord to serve and help others. She was an active member of Holy Family and St. Lawrence Catholic Church and a volunteer at Methodist Hospital, Make-A-Wish Foundation, and the Texas Extension Education Association Lavaca County. Betty is survived by: her daughter Kim Hance & husband David and their children Harper and John Hance; her son Jason Pekar & wife Beth Pekar and their daughters Emma, Ava and Lyla Pekar; brother Dennis Janak; and 3 sisters, Dorothy Nixon, Bunnye Uehlinger, and JoAnn Kristek.

Betty was preceded in death by; her husband Marvin, and parents Laddie and Josephine. Funeral Mass Service: 2 pm, Monday, Feb. 11, 2019, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Visitation: 5 pm, Sunday, at Kubena Funeral Home with Rosary starting at 6 pm. Officiant: Msgr. John Peters.

Memorials: Donor’s Choice. Burial: Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. Reception: Sacred Heart Family Center.
