Elizabeth Genevieve Savitch Armstrong Maguire Foley. Elizabeth died in Salt Lake City, Utah on June 2 with her daughter at her side after a wretched, ugly, evil, heartbreaking battle with Alzheimer’s that robbed Liz of memories, the ability to communicate and her amazing intelligence. Liz was born in Paris, France in 1926 and was a young woman during the German Occupation of Paris.

She immigrated to Tampa, Florida in 1947 as a War Bride. She lived in Tampa until she moved to Utah in 2015 so her daughter Annette could oversee her care. Liz had a wonderful career at St Leo College as an Assistant Professor and Director of Financial Aid.

After retirement she volunteered for years at Meals on Wheels and was Tampa’s Volunteer of the Year. She also volunteered doing income taxes for the elderly. She was a member of the top 10% of Mensa.

She was a beautiful seamstress, made dolls for homeless children and painted in the impressionistic style. She was preceded in death by her husband John Foley, her 3 sons: Jeffrey, Michael and Laurence, and her brother Serge. She is survived by her daughter Annette (Ron Meier), granddaughter Jennifer (Joe Casola) and a great-grandson.

Thanks to the entire staff and residents and resident’s families of the Wentworth East Millcreek for their never-ending kindness and patience to Liz, Annette and Ron. Thanks to Benjamin Scoville for the hours of beautiful music he played for Liz and for speaking French with her. Thanks to Robyn Keen and thanks to Julene Maddocks for their many visits.

Per Liz’s request no services will be held. Later this summer her remains will be placed next to her husband John’s in the Bushnell, FL veteran’s cemetery.
