WINSTED – Elizabeth J. Barber, 89, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 26, 2018 on her late husband’s birthday. She was the loving wife James E. Barber who passed away in 1995. Born March 28, 1929 in Hartford; the daughter of the late Charles and Margaret (Carr) Martin.

She loved trips to the casino, playing the card game 9-5 and bingo. She was affectionately known as “Bingo Betty”. Barber and wife Deborah of Winsted; brother, James Martin and wife Doris of GA; sister, Anne Newett of Torrington; daughter-in-law, Michele Alicky of New Hartford; sister-in-law, Barbara Martin of Winsted; close niece, Teresa Krulicki and husband Todd of Torrington; beloved grandchildren, Denise Kittredge, Ronald Kittredge, Jr., Martin Kittredge and wife Sharon, Richard Swanson and companion Amanda Conover, Justin Barber and wife Kim, Jamie Herndon and husband Jason, CJ Barber, Nick Barber and Sierra Barber and great grandchildren, Benjamin Kisiel, Karli Kisiel, Ryan Kittredge, Garrett Kittredge, Knox Barber, Wyatt Barber and Levon Herndon.

She also leaves her faithful, protective dog, Sammy. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by son, Joel A. Barber, grandson-in-law, Andrew Kisiel and brother, Charles Martin, Jr. Friends may call on Sunday, December 30, 2018 at Montano-Shea Funeral Home, 922 Main Street, Winsted from 2 – 4 PM with a funeral service at 4 PM. Burial will be held in the spring at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
