Elizabeth “Marie” Owen (Clark), 79, of Bowling Green, Kentucky, passed away on March 12, 2019 in Woodbridge, Virginia. Marie was born in Owensboro, Kentucky on March 27, 1939. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Richard E. Owen; her parents, Helen Agnes Abell and William Reuben Clark of Stanley, KY; one sister, Helen R. Clark; and three brothers, William Clark, Jr., Charles Clark and Thomas Clark.

Marie was a graduate of Owensboro Catholic High School and on November 28, 1957 she married Richard E. Owen and together raised three daughters. Marie was a supportive Army wife and lived with her family in Ft. Stewart, GA, Bad Nauheim, Germany, Fort Campbell, KY and Fort Hood, TX before finally retiring in Bowling Green, KY.

Recently, Marie moved to Woodbridge, VA to live with her youngest daughter. Lovingly known as “Mommu” to her grandchildren, Marie’s greatest joy was time spent pool-side with her grandchildren. Marie was a longtime member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Bowling Green, KY.

Survivors include three daughters, Beth Hillard (Jon) of Sarasota, FL, Chris Keyser (Matthew) of Bowling Green, KY and Elaine Schaeufele (Jay) of Woodbridge, VA; a sister, Barbara Rose of Hollidaysburg, PA; 10 grandchildren: Michele, Ryan & Kyle Hillard, Rachel Ingham, Adam & Aaron Keyser, and John, Jacob & Britton Schaeufele, and Emily Cormier; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on March 16, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. with a Funeral Mass at 1:30 p.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Woodbridge, VA. Visitation will take place in Bowling Green, KY on March 23, 2019 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at J.C. Kirby & Son Lovers Lane Chapel with The Rite of Christian Burial interment immediately following at Bowling Green Gardens, Bowling Green, KY.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Arc of Greater Prince William, 13505 Hillendale Drive, Woodbridge, VA 22193 or Down Syndrome of South Central Kentucky- Buddy House, 522 State Street, Bowling Green, KY 42101.
