Ellen Elizabeth Aiken Andrews, age 87, passed away Saturday, January 12, 2019 at the Newberry County Memorial Hospital. She was born in Liberty, SC and was the daughter of the late Major Duffie Aiken and Eva Smith Aiken. Mrs. Andrews is survived by her husband, William “Bill” Robert Andrews of the home; her son, Robert “Bobby” Andrews (Angelina Hatcher) of Cary, NC; his daughter, Julie Andrews Murray of Newberry; her brother, Ret.

Ch (Col) Clyde Major Aiken (Ann); her six grandchildren, Mary Caitlyn Herndon (Sgt. Casey Ray), William Christopher Pinkus, Heather Elizabeth Andrews, William Allen Murray, Stuart McBride Murray, Robert Walter Andrews; and one great-granddaughter, Brooklynn Herndon. Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 17, 2019 at 2 PM at the Whitmire United Methodist Church with burial to follow at the Whitmire Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, January 16, 2019 from 6 to 8 PM at the Gray Funeral Home of Whitmire. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 4217 Pack Place Ct, Glen Allen, VA 23060, or the Alzheimer’s Association, 114 East Earle Street, Anderson, SC 29621.
