Ellen L. Mummert Bennett, 87, a resident of Knightstown passed away Sunday, May 25, 2019 at Hancock Regional Hospital. She was born May 14, 1932 in Carthage to the late Joseph M. and Frances J. (Vance) Steward. Ellen was a former member of the Lilac Literary Club and the Knightstown First Wesleyan Church.

She enjoyed painting, needlework, gardening and quilting. Her greatest joy in life was to be a wife and mother and she dearly loved her family. Left to cherish her memory are her children: David (Mary Thomas) Mummert of Arlington, Anthony (Linda) Mummert of Morristown, Beth Lillard of Knightstown, Timothy Mummert of Richland, MO and Lori (Clarke) Mercer of Greenfield; 17 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren; 5 great great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter: Cathy Schuyler; two grandchildren and two brothers. Services will be held at 12:00 P.M. Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at Brandywine Community Church in Greenfield with Pastor Matt Wickham officiating. Burial will follow in Park Cemetery, Greenfield.

Visitation will be from 10:00 to 12:00 Wednesday, prior to the service. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service, Knightstown Chapel. You may share a memory of Ellen at www.
