Ellen “Woogirl” Newton, 80, of Fort Wayne, departed this life on Tuesday, May 15, 2018, at home. She was born May 10, 1938, in Tallulah, Louisiana, she was the daughter of the late Henry Philips and Mary F. Clark. She was a member of the Greater New Light Baptist Church in Marion, IN; where she was church secretary.

Ellen enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Ellen was an avid bowler and fisher. She did these activities at Active Day of Fort Wayne as well as showed her skills at horseback riding and playing Bingo.

Surviving are her children, Pervis Phillips, Sr. of Marion, Delinda (Donald) Wyatt and Sharon (Eugene) Moore both of Fort Wayne; sisters, Annette Clark of Marion and Jean (Kevin Davis) Clark of Grand Prairie, TX; brothers, Roosevelt (Judy) Miller of Kokomo and Robert Charles Clark of Marion; and a host of other relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Newton; son, Alvin Darnell Phillips; brothers, Charlie Jackson and Andrew Phillips, Sr. Burial in Grant Memorial Park.
