Obituary for Elly Vozzola (van den Berg) Elly (van den Berge) Vozzola of Windsor Locks passed away in her home at Stonebrook Village on Friday, November 23. She was born in den Haag (the Hague) Netherlands on February 25, 1927, the daughter of the late Johanna Johansson and Lt. Col.

Leendert van den Berge. She was brought up in the Netherlands and Indonesia until she was 15 years old. With her mother and younger brother she escaped from Indonesia before the Japanese invasion, planning to join her father in England via America.

When the United States came into World War II, travel to Europe was suspended and the family remained in America where she continued her studies. She met her husband, Peter John Vozzola, in Hartford, married and raised their family in Windsor Locks. Elly is survived by three children, Dr. Elizabeth Vozzola (Dr. Paul Cimbala), Cathy Wilcox (Darrell) and Ret.

Lt. Col. Robert Vozzola (Diane); 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and a great-great grandchild.

In addition to her parents and husband Elly was also predeceased by brothers, Dick and Rudolf van den Berge. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate caregivers and nurses at Stonebrook Village of Windsor Locks, Hartford Healthcare at Home Hospice and Heaven’s Hands. Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family during visiting hours on Friday, November 30, 2018, from 4 pm to 6 pm.

A funeral service celebrating Elly’s life will be held on Saturday, December 1, 2018, at 11 am at the Congregational Church of Windsor Locks, 8 Main St., Windsor Locks. Please meet at the church. Burial will follow in Grove Cemetery.
