Elmer’s Obituary COX, Elmer (A) of Davison, age 81, peacefully exchanged time with eternity on Friday, March 22 at home, with his wife and sister-in-law at his side. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 AM Thursday, April 11, 2019, with Military Honors, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 404 N. Dayton St., Davison, Michigan 48423; Rev. Fr.

Andrew A. Czajkowski celebrant. Visitation will be from 1 – 4 PM & 5 – 8 PM Wednesday at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd. , Davison, Michigan 48423.

A Scripture Service will be held at 5:30 PM Wednesday. There will also be one hour visitation prior to the Funeral Mass at the church on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, because Elmer hated that any child would have to battle cancer.

Elmer was born in Amsterdam, Ohio on January 16, 1938, the ninth of twelve children of the late Thomas and Goldie (Whited) Cox. He married Louise McCoy in 1955 and they had four children, Bobby, Curt, Janet and Tommy. Elmer served in the U.S. Army for 11 years, stationed in Germany, Korea, Texas and Alaska.

His “claim to fame” was that he was Platoon Sergeant to Elvis Presley while stationed in Germany and Texas. Elmer married Mary Ann Soulier (Dubbs) August 1, 1986. He retired from GM, was a member of UAW 659, The Oddfellows, Knights of Columbus, American Legion and St. John Catholic Church, where he was a Eucharistic Minister for many years and served on various committees.

Elmer is survived by his four children; his wife of 32 years, Mary Ann; 2 step-sons, Todd (Lauren) Soulier and their children, Layna and Dominic; Eric Soulier and his daughter, Audrey; his favorite sister, Sally (Pete) Crowl of Salem, Ohio; sisters, Martha Drake of Randolph, Ohio; Mary Roth of Fisher, Arkansas; brother, Kenny Cox of Collinsville; sister and brother- law, Martha and Leo Helms of New Port Richey, Florida; 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brothers, Basil, Jim, Ray, Tommy and Cleo; sisters, Madeline Cox and Melvina Hazen; grandson, T.J. Cox; mother-in-law, Mary J. Dubbs; Brother-in-law, Jack Dubbs; sister-in-law, Carole Malloy Gray; brother-in-law, David Gray. The family would like to thank the McLaren Home Hospice Team of Rob, Lindsay, Rod, Sara, Cecelia and many others for the warm, compassionate and loving care they showed to Elmer and Mary Ann on each and every visit these past 8 months.
