Elsie L. Chandler, age 79, died Tuesday morning at the Jefferson Healthcare Center where she had been a resident the past six years. She was born October 23, 1939 in Somerset Co., NY, the daughter of Lewis & Geraldine (Walker) Bemis and has resided in this area the past 11 years, coming from Alabama. Mrs. Chandler sometimes attended the First Baptist Church in Jefferson and enjoyed reading and music.

She is survived by four sons, Jeff (Heather) Chandler of Geneva, John (Jennifer) Chandler of Andover, Richard (Mary) Chandler of Talladega, AL & Robert Chandler in Kentucky; 19 grandchildren and a sister, Flora (Clinton) Ward of Jamestown, NY. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Cecil in 2008 and a brother, Richard Bemis. Private family services will be held Sunday, April 7, 2019, with burial in Cherry Valley Cemetery.
