Sue A. Rankin, age 88, died Saturday at her residence on W. Beech St. with family by her side. She was born July 25, 1930 in New Lexington, the daughter of John & Dorothy (Metzgar) Page and has resided in the Jefferson area since 1964, coming from Millersburg. Sue was married to A. James “Jim” Rankin on September 7, 1950 at St. Rose’s Catholic Church in New Lexington.

She retired in 1993 after 27 years as a secretary for the Jefferson Area Local Schools. Sue was a member of St. Joseph Calasanctius Church and was involved with the Jefferson Historical Society, committee on the Restoration of the Depot and Friends of the Library. She enjoyed art, quilting, crocheting, needlework, bingo, cooking shows and collected lighthouses and owls.

Survivors include a daughter, Tobi M. (Dennis “Dino”) Peairs of Jefferson; a granddaughter, Tiffany (Rick) Matyi of Austintown and two great-granddaughters, Harper Paige & Remi Jayce. Sue was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jim in 2011; a grandson, Jason Peairs in 2014 and three sisters, Linda Billingsley, Jeanette Wilson & Marilyn Howard. A memorial mass will be celebrated Friday at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph Calasanctius Church, 32 E. Jefferson St., Jefferson, with the Rev.

Fr. John Ettinger officiating. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery.
