Emma Marie Mehalick, 89, of Hazle Township, passed away Saturday, March 16, 2019 at her home. Born in Freeland, October 14, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Stephen and Susan (Petrushka) Howanitz and spent the past 16 years in Hazle Township after moving from Sugarloaf, where she had resided for 45 years. Emma was a Homemaker and member of St. John Bosco RC Church, Sugarloaf.

She was preceded in death, in addition to her parents, by a grandson Joey Fellin and a brother Edward Howanitz. Surviving are her husband, Joseph G. Mehalick to whom she was married on June 19, 1954 in Freeland; three daughters Janet Fellin and companion Jim Coles, Hazle Township; Judy Mehalick, Wyoming, PA; and Nancy Merrick and her husband Richard Jr., Sugarloaf; seven grandchildren, James Fellin and his wife Marissa, Sarah Disabella and her husband Joe, Emily and Laura D’Amato, Olivia Carmona and husband Israel, Richard Merrick III, and Christina Merrick; three great-grandchildren Valentino, Aaliyah, and Gianella Carmona; a brother Thomas Howanitz and his wife Irene, Macungie; and several nieces and nephews. Her funeral will be held Friday, March 22, 2019 at 10:30 am from Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc. (East) 669 W. Butler Drive, Drums followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am in St. John Bosco RC Church, 573 State Route 93, Sugarloaf.
