John G. Yenchick Jr., 71, of Sugarloaf, passed away early Tuesday morning, March 12, 2019 at Lehigh Valley Hospital – Hazelton in Hazelton, following a short illness. Born in Hazleton, December 6, 1947, he was the son of the late John G. and Cecelia E. (Derendal) Yenchick, Sr. and spent his entire life in Sugarloaf. John had worked as a Welder for Herman Schwabe in Valmont for 30 years and later for Cornell Iron Works, Mountaintop, prior to retiring in 2012.

He was a Army veteran of the Vietnam War, having attained the rank of Sergeant, and was a member of Valley Vets VFW Post #8161, Conyngham. He was a member of St. John Bosco RC Church. He enjoyed trips to Las Vegas and Atlantic City, spending time in his home swimming pool, and working around his home.

Surviving are his wife, the former Nancy Bozar, to whom he was married on September 11, 1971 in St. Kunnegunda RC Church, McAdoo; two sons John and Brian, both of Sugarloaf; a grandson Brian Jr.; three sisters Cecelia Youngcourt, Sugarloaf; Eleanor Racho and her husband Gerald, Sugarloaf; and Dolores Armbruster, and her husband Michael, Allentown; one niece, four nephews, and an aunt Helen Palubinsky, Hamburg. His funeral will be held Thursday at 9 am from Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc. (East) 669 W. Butler Drive, Drums, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am in St. John Bosco RC Church, 573 State Route 93. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
