Thursday, July 26, 2018 Emma Romano Proto longtime resident of Guilford passed away peacefully at her home. Wife of Frank A. Proto. Emma was born in West Haven on April 11, 1923 daughter of the late Anthony and Edna Dion Romano.

Sister of Jane Romano of Guilford. Predeceased by a brother Arthur Romano. Emma graduated from CT Teacher’s College in New Haven and later earned her Master’s degree from Southern Connecticut State College.

Emma and her late husband Frank owned and operated Sachem Card and Party Store in Guilford for many years. She was an active member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and communicant of St. George Church.

Friends are invited to a visitation on Tues morning July 31 from 9 – 10 am at the Guilford Funeral Home, 115 Church St, Guilford. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint George Church, 33 Whitfield St, Guilford on Tuesday at 10 a.m. Burial will follow All Saints Cemetery, 700 Middletown Ave, North Haven. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to CT Hospice, 100 Double Beach Rd, Branford, CT 06405 or the Animal Haven, 89 Mill Rd, North Haven, CT 06473.
