EMOGENE CLEVINGER, 79, of Grundy, VA, passed away Tuesday, April 17, 2018, at HealthSouth Rehabilitation Center in Bristol, TN, after an extended illness. Born in Buchanan County on August 10, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Parkus and Sylvia Hackney Looney. Emogene married Herbert Clevinger on August 10, 1953, and he preceded her in death on November 25, 2016.

She was a member of the Old Regular Baptist Church for 35-years. Other than her parents and husband, Emogene was preceded in death by 2-Sisters, Ora Ramey and Pauline Stiltner; 3-Brothers: Curtis Looney, Virgil Looney and Buster Looney; 1-Granddaughter: Melanie Scammell; 2-Great-Grandsons, Joseph Hall and Luke Bobby Plymal. Those left to cherish her memory include daughters, Marzella (Bill) Comeau of Elizabeth City, NC, Kathy Scammell of Laramie, WY, Charlene (Johnny) McClanahan of Grundy, VA, Sally Stepp of Christiansburg, VA, Becky (Jimmy) Stiltner of Harman, VA, Sherry (Henry) McNutt of Harman, VA, and Lana (Terry) Looney of Vansant, VA; grandchildren, Tina Wilson, Tim Belcher, Amy Scammell, Chris Scammell, Angela Coleman, Anthony McClanahan, Terri Hurt, Brianna Stepp, Melissa Plymal, Wesley Stiltner, Sharon Lester, Shawn McNutt, Jessica Alford and Aaron Looney; 28-Great-Grandchildren; 5-Great-Great-Grandchildren; sisters, Mary Viers of Ohio, Violet (Amil) Clevinger of Vansant, VA, and Juanita (Ernie) Clevinger of Bastian, VA; and brothers, Ben (Helen) Looney of Big Rock, VA, and Ray (Sue) Looney of Conaway, VA.

Friends may call at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel Friday evening at 6:00 P.M. with services at 7:00 P.M. and at Bethlehem Old Regular Baptist Church Saturday evening at 6:00 P.M. with services at 7:00 P.M. Funeral Services for EMOGENE CLEVINGER will be conducted Sunday, April 22, 2018 at 1:00 P.M. at the Bethlehem Old Regular Baptist Church with Revs. Jim Blankenship, David O’Quinn, Eddie Newsome, Jimmy Yates, James McClanahan, Frank Newsome and Pastor Mike Rife officiating with burial to follow in Mountain Valley Memorial Park, Big Rock, VA. Active Pallbearers will be grandsons and Brian Stiltner.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Sons-in-Law. Grundy Funeral Home of Grundy, VA is honored to serve the family of EMOGENE CLEVINGER.
