Ersel’s Obituary Ersel Maynard or better known to those who knew him as “Thurman” of Red Jacket, WV was born on May 11, 1944 at Red Jacket, WV a son of the late George Edgar Maynard Jr and Vicie Marie Stiltner Maynard departed this life on Tuesday morning January 22, 2019 while an inpatient in the Tug Valley Area Regional Medical Center of South Williamson, KY. Thurman was 74 years old. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a brother Ray Maynard and a sister Shirley Warwine.

A graduate of the former Magnolia-Matewan High School Thurman after graduating joined the United States Navy. Upon his completion of serving he worked as a mechanic for he enjoyed the challenge of small engine repair. Thurman took great pride in his service to our country but his proudest achievement was his beloved family for he indeed was a caring and beloved family man.

When he was not engaged in repairing an engine he enjoyed a good Western show or catching up on the old episodes of Mash. Those that survive him include his wife Reba Rebecca Ray Maynard, son David Maynard and Michaela Rhoden and a daughter Lynette Sincell and her husband James Richard all of Red Jacket, WV; brothers William Maynard and James “Bob” Maynard and a sister Jenny Maynard; grandchildren Matthew Scott, Stephanie and her boyfriend Brycen Savage, Alex, Eric, Christopher, Matthew Edward and Alyson; great grandchild Grayson and Thurman was anticipating the arrival of another great-grandchild; A nephew Paul Edgar Maynard along with a host of other beloved family and friends survive him he will indeed be missed. In keeping with the request of Thurman there will be no formal services.
