Obituary for Esperanza (Hope) Merino Beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away Saturday, July 14, 2018 at Select Specialty Hospital of Saginaw. Age 92 years. The daughter of the late Felipe and Dolores (Villa) Medina, Esperanza was born August 11, 1925 in San Antonio, Texas.

She was previously married to Robert Delgado. Esperanza later married Gilbert Merino Sr. who predeceased her January 21, 1997. She was employed as a nurse’s aide at numerous health care facilities.

Esperanza was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She enjoyed gardening, reading, playing bingo, traveling and loved spending time with her family. Surviving are three sons, one daughter and their spouses, Robert (Angie) Delgado Jr., Richard (Theresa) Delgado, Gilbert (Rose) Merino Jr., and Anita Merino (Ramiro Flores); son-in-law, Walter Rocha, daughters-in-law Cathy Delgado and Velia Delgado; 28 grandchildren; 83 great-grandchildren; many great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews including Phil and Pat Flores, Janie Rodriguez and Adolph (PeeWee) Espinoza.

Esperanza was preceded in death by two sons and one daughter, Juan Felipe Delgado Sr., Jerry Delgado and Alice Rocha, a great-grandson, Jeffrey Rossell, and by her brothers and sisters, Lucas, Concepcion, Augustine, Felipe, Salvador, Herlinda, Frances and Ernestina. Hope’s family extends their gratitude and appreciation to Select Specialty Hospital and St. Mary’s of Michigan Medical Center for their loving and compassionate care. Funeral Liturgy will take place 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 910 N. 6th Street in Saginaw.

Rev. Fr. Francis W. Voris, OFM, Cap.

, will officiate with burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Friends may call at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd.

, (between Shattuck and McCarty), where the family will be present on Tuesday from 12:00 noon to 8:00 p.m. and at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass. Family and friends will pray the Rosary 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. A Prayer Service, led by Pastor Augustine Delgado, will take place 6:00 p.m. Tuesday.
