Chandler, AZ – Esther A. Damore, born April 11, 1930, passed away October 4, 2018. She was a daughter of James and Rose (Merola) Pomponio. She was a 1948 honor graduate of The Rayen School and a cum laude graduate of Youngstown State University, with a Bachelor of Arts Degree.

To continue her higher education, she took graduate courses at Kent State University. Esther was first employed in the Metallurgical Dept. of Carnegie Steel.

Her next place of employment was as a telephone operator with Ohio Bell Company where she advanced as office representative for several years. Since teaching was always her wish and goal, she subsequently became a high school teacher of English and Italian at Austintown Fitch High School until her retirement. Esther was past president of the women Wolves Club Den VII.

She was a former member of St. Columba and St. Anthony churches before permanently moving to Arizona in 2003. She was now a member of St. Mary in Chandler, Arizona. Esther loved travelling with her late husband to Europe and making numerous trips to Florida where they made their winter home in Boca Raton before moving to Chandler, Arizona for winters in 2000.

Her husband, Atty. Lawrence J. whom she married June 19,1948 passed on July 28, 2002. She loved to sew, cook, and bake, not only for her family, but for her neighbors and friends.

Esther especially loved to spend her time with her son/daughter-in-law, grandchildren, and beloved beagle, Belle. She is survived by her son Dr. Lawrence J. Damore II and daughter-in-law Dr. Tiersa Wallace Damore of Chandler, Arizona and two grandchildren Victoria Rose and Jonathan Richard of Chandler, sister Mary Dobran of Youngstown and brother, Louis Pomponio of Youngstown. Preceding her in death are her parents and a brother, Albert Pomponio.

Funeral services will be at St. Anthony Church at 10am on Sat. Oct. 13, 2018.

Family and friends will gather at church one hour prior to the mass. In lieu of flowers please donate to the leukemia and lymphoma society (LLS.org) or Arizona Beagle Rescue.
