Esther Jane Rutter age 90 of St. Johns, MI, passed away Sunday, April 22, 2018, at Hazel I. Findlay Country Manor, St. Johns, MI. Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes – Osgood Chapel, St. Johns, MI, on Thursday, April 26, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Ellen Zienert officiating.

Burial will take place at Mt. Rest Cemetery, St. Johns, MI. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 from 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.

Esther Jane was born in Hartford City, IN on February 19, 1928 the daughter of Harold J. and Kathleen Doris (Burdge) Roberts. Esther Jane married Richard M. Rutter and they were happily married for 72 years. Richard passed away on April 12, 2008.

Esther Jane worked at Harr’s Jewelry. She loved going to Horsehead Lake. She was a member of First United Methodist Church St. Johns, MI.

, and resided most of her life in St. Johns. She is survived by her son Robert and Lori Rutter of Lansing, MI; son Bruce and Donna Rutter of St. Johns, MI; 6 grandchildren: Tammy, Ann, Sarah, Scott, Christina and Joshua; 2 step-grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 6 step-great-grandchildren. Esther Jane was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her step-great-grandson.
