Eugene W. Jasaitis, 68, of Griffith, IN, passed away Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at the Community Hospital in Munster, IN. He was born near Munich, Germany on November 27, 1949 to Xavier and Regina (Namikat) Jasaitis. On March 21, 1980, he married the love of his life, Diana Chavez.

Eugene is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Diana; children, Natalie (Joseph)Shipp, Regina (John) Hernandez and Jennifer Jasaitis-Brown; grandchildren, Eric, Ashlie, Cody, Breanne, A. J., Alyssa, Bryce, Sylas, Emily and Ava; great-granddaughter, Sophia; sister, Nijola Schwader; brother, John Jasaitis; many other relatives and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Xavier and Regina Jasaitis; parents-in-law, Ramon and Florence Chavez and son-in-law, John Brown. Eugene was a graduate of Washington High School in East Chicago, IN.

He retired from BP Petroleum after 30 plus years. Eugene served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was a loving husband, father, and “Papa”.

Gene’s family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. in the Main Chapel at the Ridgelawn Funeral Home, 4201 West Ridge Road, Gary, IN 46408 (219) 980-5555. Funeral Service will be on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with Father Theodore J. Mens officiating at the funeral home. Burial will follow at the Ridgelawn Cemetery in Gary, IN.

Gene will be dearly missed by his loving family and dear friends. May God Grant Him Eternal Rest.
