Obituary for Evelene Batchelor (Roddy) Blacksburg — Mrs. Evelene Batchelor, 78, of 128 Batchelor Drive, passed away on Tuesday, December 25, 2018 at Peachtree Centre. Born in Mayo, she was the wife of Darrell Batchelor Sr. and the daughter of the late Ralph and Daisy McCraw Roddy. Evelene worked with her husband at Batchelor’s Grocery for over 50 years and was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Batchelor is survived by a son, Lamar Batchelor Jr. and wife, Connie, of Blacksburg; a grandson, Darrell Batchelor III, of Blacksburg; three brothers, Ralph Roddy Jr of Chesnee, Glenn Roddy of Chesnee, and Jay Roddy of Boiling Springs, SC; and two sisters, Ozell Stewart of Boiling Springs, SC and Brenda Blanton of Chesnee. Evelene was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Gene Roddy, and a sister, Betty McAbee. The family will receive friends on Thursday, 27th of December, 2018, from 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM at Hopewell Baptist Church.

Graveside services will follow at 3:00 PM in the Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Roger Ham officiating. Memorials may be made to the Hopewell Baptist Church Building Fund, 511 Old Chester Road, Blacksburg, SC 29702.
