EVELYN MORELLI was a writer, artist, musician, and loving wife and mother. Those who knew her enjoyed the many stories she shared about growing up in a close-knit family of five during the depression. Her first published memoir, appearing in 1997 in Reminisce Magazine, recalls a moment in time about small town life in the Pacific Northwest.

In the late 1950’s, Evy moved to Southern California with her husband, Micky, and three children, Kenneth, Dennis, and Marilyn Diane. While residing for thirty years in San Diego, Evy was a professional artist, active in numerous art associations. Though known for her expertise in Chinese brush painting, she created art in multiple media, and taught classes for school districts and privately.

A lifelong lover of nature, Evy worked part-time for the forestry service while living for several years in Southern Oregon. There, she continued to teach art, but also expanded her interest in organic gardening. Evy moved to California’s Central Coast in 2010, where she continued writing, painting, playing piano, and gardening.

She soon joined SLO-Nightwriters, during which time she collaborated on a book about microfiction entitled Five for Flash. A few of her other works include Watercolor, The Lighthearted Approach; Four Seasons – A Miniature in Meditation; and Oriental Brush & Verse. Her memory will live on in her surviving family members, including her children, three grandchildren (Amie, Shon, and Jeffrey) and several great (and great-great) grandchildren.
