Obituary for Evonne Atlee Evonne Atlee, 100, of Benton and formerly Johnston City passed away at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, October 11, 2018 In Benton Rehabilitation and Health Care Center. Evonne was born July 23, 1918 in Johnston City to Horace and Lena (McAnnelly) Boyer. She married John Lloyd Atlee on December 25, 1940 in Elgin.
He preceded her in death on January 8, 2004. Together they shared 64 years of marriage. Evonne was a registered nurse at the Northern Illinois University Health Clinic in DeKalb for many years.
She was a 1936 graduate of Johnston City High School and was a graduate of St. Joseph Nursing School in Elgin. She was a member of the New Life Pentecostal Church in Harvard, Illinois. Evonne enjoyed reading, she could always be found at her kitchen table reading her bible.
Her family and her church were her greatest enjoyment in life. Survivors include her four children, John K. Atlee of Benton, Sandra (Walter) Cunny of Spring Grove, Randall (Paula) Atlee of Pittsburg and David (Renee) Atlee of Stillman Valley; eight grandchildren, Jennifer (Cliff) Beaty, Miriam Atlee, Elizabeth Atlee, Micah Atlee, Shanatt (Andrew) Holsinger, Scott (Sherri) Remfer, David Atlee and Simeon Atlee; great-grandchildren, Brittany, Sara and Cassie Beaty,Megan, Christopher, Nicholas and Austin Atlee, Johan and Abigail Holsinger, Paxton and Kelsey Rempfer; two great-grandchildren, Amilia McCann and Daphney Coleman. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; brothers, Kenneth, John, Bill Boyer and two sisters, Martha Boyer and Betty Littlefair. The family has set the service date next summer as there are family members out of the area. The graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 28, 2019 in Lakeview Cemetery in Johnston City with Rev.
Rocky Nolan officiating. Family and friends are asked to gather at the cemetery the day of the service. Pyle Funeral Home in Johnston City is entrusted with the arrangements.
