Fenton A. Hodge Strong and proud family man Effingham – Fenton A. Hodge, 85, of Pine River Road, died peacefully at his daughter’s home on Sunday, September 30th, 2018. He was born in Wolfeboro, NH on October 11, 1932, the son of the late John L. Hodge and Beatrice (Milliken) Hodge. He graduated in the last class from Ossipee High School in 1950, where he played basketball and baseball.

After graduating he worked at Frankson’s Furniture and delivered milk for Indian Mound Dairy. In the fall of 1951 he joined the Navy for eight years, four active and four reserve, where he served on the East coast and Cuba and aboard the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Ticonderoga. Upon discharge from the Navy, he went to work for Public Service of NH for 36 years, retiring in 1991.

He lived most of his life in Ctr. Ossipee, moving to Effingham in 1988. At one time he was a member of the Ctr.

Ossipee Fire Department. He was also a member of the Ossipee Historical Society and delivered Meals on Wheels for many years. He enjoyed all kinds of sports and was a long time member of Indian Mound Golf Club.

He was an avid Red Sox fan. He enjoyed camping, bird watching, dancing, and bluegrass music. He also took great joy in attending as many of his grandchildren’s performances and sporting events as possible.

He is survived by his son Dennis Hodge and wife Debbie of Stoneham, ME. , two daughters, Debra Kierstead and husband Jeffrey of Milford, NH, and Donna Ulitz and husband Michael of Tamworth, NH, ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, sister-in-law Trish Hodge, several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his loving wife of 62 years Jennette in 2015 and by a brother Burton in 1985.

At his request there will be no calling hours. A Memorial Service will be held at the Moultonville Methodist Church on Sunday, October 14th at 1:00PM. A private burial will be in the family lot at the Chickville Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers a memorial donation may be made to the Ossipee Concerned Citizens or Ossipee Historical Society. Lord Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
