Fernand “Sonny” Alexandre Theroux, 68, of Depot Hill Road in St. Johnsbury, Vt died on Sunday, July 8, 2018, at the Jack Byrne Center for Palliative and Hospice Care, Lebanon, NH. Fern was born in Newport, Vt on June 14, 1950, to Fernand Hector and Marcelle (Rougeau) Theroux. He was raised and educated in Derby Line and lived in Island Pond but had been in St. Johnsbury for the last 31 years.

From 1969 to 1972, Fern served in Vietnam as an Army Door Gunner. Fern worked as a logger and carpenter, but his welding business was his main career. Although they had been together for 30 years, Fern made Nancy Marie Bijolle his wife in January of this year.

In his spare time, Fern enjoyed fishing, building trailers, shooting skeet, camping and bottle picking. He served as Commander of the St. Johnsbury Disabled American Veterans – Lyle Little Chapter 9 as well as Junior Vice Commander at the state level. He was also a member of the St. Johnsbury American Legion Post # 58.

Fern is survived by his wife: Nancy Bijolle of St. Johnsbury; 2 sons: Roland Theroux and his companion, Jane Carpino, of Colebrook, NH, Reginald Theroux and wife, Jennifer, of Derby, VT; a daughter: Rosalie Bowen and her companion, Dan Gauvin, of Coventry, VT; a step-son: Shawn Bijolle and wife, Doris, of Northfield Falls, VT; a step-daughter: Jennifer Keithan and husband, Scott, of St. Johnsbury; 14 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Visiting hours will be held Thursday, July 12, 2018, 6-8PM at Sayles Funeral Home on 525 Summer Street in St. Johnsbury, VT. A graveside service officiated by Fr.
