St. Johnsbury, VT: Melanie Elizabeth Olcott, age 62, of Eastern Avenue died at the Jack Bryne Center for Palliative and Hospice Care in Lebanon, NH, Friday Night, September 7, 2018, with her family at her side. Melanie was born in Haverhill, NH, on April 15, 1956, daughter to the late Leo Wyman and Phyllis Winona (Judd) Olcott. She was raised and educated in Woodsville and Ryegate.

Melanie lived much of her life in St. Johnsbury but spent time off and on between here and Ticonderoga, NY. She was a homemaker, enjoyed candy making, collecting coins, making and decorating cakes and doing crafts, especially with her grandchildren. People will remember lollipops hung on their doors and boxes of homemade treats at Christmas time.

Her grandchildren were her main focus and she will be dearly missed. She is survived by her sister: Belle Olcott of Lyndonville, her 3 children: Billy-Jack Olcott and wife, Melissa, of Lyndon Center, Tara-Jean Samora and husband, Nicholas, of Lunenburg, Candace Heath and husband, Shane, of Sutton, 7 Grandchildren: Cody, Kanishalyn, Colby, Ellie, Iyla, Ahna, Westin, 2 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Melanie was predeceased by her brother: Wyman Olcott, her sister Joyce Olcott and her very special pet: Daisy Mae.

Calling hours will be held from 2-4PM and from 6-8PM on Wednesday, September 12, 2018, at the Sayles Funeral Home, 525 Summer Street in St. Johnsbury. At Melanie’s request there will be no Service and Burial will be private. Memorial contributions may be made in Melanie’s name to the Jack Bryne Center for Palliative and Hospice Care, One Medical Center Drive, Lebanon, NH 03756 or online at dhmcalumdev.
