Filippo Russo, 86, passed away on Thursday, May 9, 2019, at Staten Island University Hospital North. He was born Thursday, March 2, 1933 in Sicily, Italy and was the son of the late Gioacchino Russo and the late Caterina Migliore Russo. Filippo immigrated to the United States in 1971, first living in Brooklyn, and in 2001 settled in Eltingville.

When living in Italy, Filippo was an avid fisherman and when he moved to Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn, he loved going to the beach to fish. He also enjoyed tending to his vegetable garden. Above all, he was a loving husband, father and grandfather who truly enjoyed spending time with family.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Concetta, who passed away in 2013. The family will receive friends from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. on Monday, May 13, 2019, at the John Vincent Scalia Home For Funerals, Inc., 28 Eltingville Blvd. (at Eltingville Station), Staten Island, New York.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at Holy Child Church located at 4747 Amboy Road Staten Island, New York 10312.
